You Can’t Breathwork Your Way Through Life.

The hot topic these days is nervous system regulation.

Deep breathing, meditation, cold exposure, grounding, yoga, Somatics, etc.

And I believe in all of it.

But I also think sometimes we’re trying to use regulation tools to make ourselves better at tolerating lives that are fundamentally dysregulating us.

Maybe your nervous system isn’t malfunctioning, maybe it’s responding appropriately to the fact that you’re exhausted.

And over comitted.

And under supported.

We are CONSTANTLY accessible and surrounded by people who drain us.

We life in a fast paced society, living without enough space, rest, connection or joy.

And maybe the answer isn’t another breathing technique.

Maybe regulation is as simple as saying no…

It could also be:

Asking for help.

Changing your schedule.

Having that uncomfortable conversation.

Creating a boundary.

Leaving something that no longer fits.

Or admitting:

I cannot keep living like this and expect my body to feel safe.

Regulation isn’t always about teaching your body to tolerate more.

Sometimes it’s about finally listening when your body says, this is too much.
